How do I pay for an obituary notice?

If you are a funeral home or crematorium, you may choose to be billed if you have an established account with us. Otherwise, notices must be prepaid, credit cards are preferred; we accept Visa, American Express and Discover.

What if I notice a mistake in my notice after submitting it?

You may make changes to your notice at any point before deadline for that day’s publication. Simply log in to your account, locate your obit  in the Future Ads area, and ‘Modify’ the obit. If you are paying by credit card and you change the cost of the obit, you will be credited/debited to correct amount, depending on if your obit increases or decreases.

Can I work on my notice and save it without submitting it?

Yes, you may build the notice, see how much it will cost and save it for later. You will be prompted to create an account so you can log in at a later date and finish and submit the notice.

Will my notice run in color in the paper?

No, all obits run black and white in the newspaper. The photos remain in color on the screen and will be converted prior to publication. The photos will run in color on news-record.com

Is the preview an accurate representation of how the notice will look in the paper?

The production staff will check the text for errors in punctuation and spelling, and crop and tone photos to ensure quality printing. Otherwise, the notice should run as the preview shows it. NOTE: The Greensboro News & Record reserves the right to edit, revise or reject any or all copy and photographs deemed unsuitable for publication. This may result in the dimensions of a notice to change during editing, as for example, from one column to two columns.

What if I miss the deadline for a publication?

Unfortunately, you will need to choose the next available date. Some sections of the newspaper are printed in advance and require a longer production time. If the date is unavailable on your screen, the deadline has passed.
